Praying for your Marriage and your Husband
Have you ever examined your prayer life and thought to yourself “Girl, do you pray enough and are you using prayer strategies”? Hopefully you don’t answer yourself out loud!
But as wives we are so busy with tasks on our to do list, husbands, kids, work and the mundane things in our daily lives, that we sometimes forget about the most important thing – prayer.
Prayer is our #1 resource to growing our relationship with God. Our relationship with God is the most important relationship that we can ever have, this is why we should pray daily and pray strategically.
As we grow our relationship with God, we also grow our relationship with those we love. The relationship that is most important to me next to the Lord is my relationship with my husband. I pray for my marriage and for my husband daily and I have a prayer strategy so that I am bringing him to God consistently.
So let’s pray for our marriages and as we pray for our marriages today I want you to remember that every marriage has a purpose, even if we don’t quite know the purpose. Our goal is to be like Christ in every relationship in our lives.
So our marriages should reflect our relationship with Christ. This is the relationship that is going to make us look more like Jesus everyday. We serve a purpose in our marriage to be a suitable helper but that is not our goal. A goal is the object of a person’s ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. So when we go into a marriage with a goal it is for a specific accomplishment not focusing on the overall purpose of being a suitable helper that does our husband good and not evil all the days of our lives.
So at the moment that our spouse doesn’t line up with our expectations or desired result, we want to end the marriage. It is life as we know it, if we don’t like something – get rid of it. But THAT IS NOT God’s plan for our marriages.
So as you begin to put in the work, know that God created you for your husband, you are the missing piece that he needs daily. Take joy in knowing that God equipped you with all that you need to love and support your husband.
Continue to pray for your husband, submit to your husband, love your husband unconditionally and God will do the rest. Work on yourself as God works on your husband.
You Were Made For Your Husband
“Now the LORD God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [one who balances him—a counterpart who is] suitable and complementary for him.”
“An excellent woman [one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous], who is he who can find her? Her value is more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls. The heart of her husband trusts in her [with secure confidence], And he will have no lack of gain. She comforts, encourages, and does him only good and not evil All the days of her life.”
If You Are Struggling In Your Marriage, Remember That Jesus Struggled Too
“For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”
Always Forgive In Your Marriage As Christ Forgives
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
“he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.”
Prayer For Your Marriage
Father I thank you for my marriage and I thank you for my husband. I commit to always put God first in my marriage and follow the commands that you have set before me.
I thank you that it is not your will for man to be alone so you have equipped me to be the suitable helper that ____________ needs. I am the bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh, woman taken out of man to become one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together let no one separate.
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. I thank you that I am a good thing and that ___________ continues to find favor with you. I am the wife that you have called me to be, the wife of noble character, who’s worth is far more precious than rubies.
______________ has full confidence in me and lacks nothing. I bring him good and not harm all the days of my life. I will submit to my husband as to the Lord. I love and respect ___________and he loves me just as Christ loved the church.
We are better together, two are better than one, if one of us falls down we can help each other up. We will keep each other warm when we lay down together but we cannot keep warm alone. When we are alone we may be over powered but together we can defend one another. Us together, putting God first in our marriage is a three strand cord that is not easily broken. In Jesus name!!! Amen
“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.”
