Bible verse for July 22

“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He said in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. -John 7:37-39 (NASB)

July 22 Prayer Reflection

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying,

Did you know that water regulates the Earth’s temperature?
Or how about the fact that water makes up to 83% of our blood?
And maybe it’s news to you, like it was to me, that a person can live about a month without food, but only about a week without water.*

It’s pretty amazing, right?  Water is necessary to our earth, our bodies function, and our survival!

And there’s one more thing that we need water for: our spiritual survival.

When Jesus was speaking at the feast of Tabernacles in Luke chapter 7, he was unveiling a truth that would change the world.  What was that truth?  That He was the Living Water and that no other religion or false gods could quench spiritual thirst like He could.

The feast of Tabernacles was a celebration of the coming messiah that looked toward the future of His coming- and He literally was sitting in their midst and they didn’t know it!  Their heart were so hardened they could not see truth.

The true Messiah was sitting right in front of them, offering them living water, and they didn’t recognize Him.

Imagine Jesus standing up in the midst of the Rabbis and all other Jews, saying, “ If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”

Jesus was proclaiming to them that they needed spiritual water!

Water!  Thirst quenching water! When we are born again, we have spiritual refreshment, cleansing from sin, and eternal life that Jesus offers to those who believe in Him.

As the earth needs water to survive, we need to partake of the spiritual water from Jesus to be born again.

Have you experienced the water of life and become born again by the Spirit of God?  He is only a drink away and is calling you to partake.

All you need to do is ask him to come into your life, repent of your sin and live for Him.

Sweet Sister, He is waiting to quench your spiritual thirst forever!

July 22 Prayer

Dear Lord, as the earth needs water to survive, we need to partake of the spiritual water from Jesus to be born again. Lord, today I repent of any past sin and declare again that I want to live for You and You only. Amen!
