Bible verse for June 18
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV
Prayer Reflections for June 18
“My grace is sufficient for you…”
When Paul penned those words, he was writing about a thorn in his flesh which he referred to as a messenger of Satan. But I’m feeling those words today for an entirely different reason.
Yesterday my oldest son left for basic training. He joined the army reserves and will be gone for roughly four months for training.
While he graduated high school a couple of years ago, he only moved across town. He came home at least once a week to do laundry and he was never more than a phone call or text away. Now, he is several states away with limited access to his cell phone. I won’t see him again until September.
That’s what I need grace for today. Grace for being a mom who is separated from her child. Grace to keep going while my heart is hurting.
The truth is, we all need grace for a million different reasons on any given day. Grace to cope with tough situations. Grace to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Grace for when we fail or fall short. Grace for when our hearts are hurting. Grace when things don’t go as planned. God’s grace is as endless as the reasons we need it. And it’s always sufficient.
June 18 Prayer
Father God, thank You that Your grace is sufficient for me no matter what I’m facing in life. Thank You for the grace to face today and that You’ll give it to me again tomorrow.
