Bible verse for April 15

But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always.” Hosea 12:6

Prayer Reflections for April 15

This verse almost reminds me of a daily checklist:

  1. Return to God- Check.
  2. Maintain love and justice- Check.
  3. Wait for God…Always- Silently stare at the word wait and always.

Waiting is hard. It takes time, self-discipline, patience, trust, and obedience, and I’ll say it again, time. In recent years, I’ve learned that waiting for God relies on me actively holding back my desires and temptations and looking to Him for guidance. Sometimes the best thing we can do is wait.

  • I chuckle whenever I read scriptures about patience and waiting because it reminds me of my first prayer. After becoming a Christian, I asked God for patience. Currently, it is (and always will be) a work in progress. Why is it important to trust God while waiting for Him?
  • Returning to God doesn’t only apply to those who don’t know God but is something we must choose each day. The enemy is a thief and sneaks in when we don’t expect Him–sidetracking us without us realizing it. By recognizing the distractions, we can redirect our attention to God. What distractions keep you from spending more time with God? How can you intentionally turn your attention back to Him?

April 15 Prayer

Lord, You reign on earth and in heaven. You’ve guided me through the valleys and led me out of the dark. Thank you for always going after me when I stray away. Lord, help me return to You and to patiently wait for Your perfect timing in all things. Your Word is truth and Your righteousness endures. I want to be closer to You today than I was yesterday and to forever dwell in Your presence. In Jesus’ loving name, Amen.
