Prayer Reflections for July 9

I’d been struggling for over a week and was becoming bitter. I was tempted to give up, but that’s when I remembered I had yet to talk to Jesus about my struggle.

So, prompted by today’s verse, I started to pray.

Only instead of pouring out my heart like water, my prayer was like a dripping faucet.

“Father God. I feel stuck.” – Drip

“I feel distracted.” – Drip

“I want to key into You, but my mind feels foggy.” – Drip

“I feel so muddied.” – Drip

“Why can’t I pour my heart out to You?” – Drip

Have you ever been there?

Have you ever desperately wanted to pour out your heart to God but felt stunted? If so, you are not alone.

I don’t know why we feel like this sometimes, but I do know that even when we struggle to pray, God hears our hearts.

In Matthew 6:8 Jesus tells us that God “knows what you need before you ask him.” Even when we struggle to pray, God knows. Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

Do you find that as comforting as I do?

Even when my prayers seem stilted, God knows my heart. He hears what I’m unable to pour out. And He hears you, too.

July 9 Prayer

Father God, Thank You for who You are. I am so thankful You know my heart. When I have trouble finding the words, You know what’s in the depth of my soul. Thank You for hearing me when I haven’t the words to say.
