Prayer Reflections for June 30
I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time watching the news these days. The evil that abounds in this world is simply repulsive. It breaks my heart to hear of the injustice and wickedness that prevails against the innocent. The violence and violation of basic human rights, the disregard for dignity and decency, the deplorable conditions the poor and needy endure…it is just overwhelming.
When I compare the issues of our day to the prophecies in the Bible, there is no doubt in my mind that we are living in the End Times. Which means that Jesus will be returning soon to right every wrong and establish His righteous kingdom. But in the meantime, we desperately need the grace of God.
The apostle John, an eyewitness of the majesty of Christ, reminds us of this truth with his words in Revelation 22:21. The final words of the Bible. His touching benediction reminds us that grace is our greatest need amid tragedy and tribulation, trials and tears. The undeserved favor of God that saves us, sustains us and supplies us with everything needed to be steadfast and stand strong against the wiles of the devil.
When we get in the glorious presence of our Savior, all the pain and sorrow of this world will disappear. There will only be light, love, joy peace, and glory as far as the eye can see. Hallelujah!
But until then…there is grace.
While it may seem like the wicked one is winning, the truth is that Jesus has already won. He is victorious, and as believers, so are we. God is with us, and His grace is enough. Look for His favor on your life today. See the ways He is providing, protecting, and pursuing you. Take note of His kindness towards you.
When our attention is on the goodness and grace of God, our perspective shifts, and light breaks through, illuminating our blessedness. We no longer see all that’s wrong, but how God is at work in our midst, despite the darkness.
The closer we get to the return of Christ the darker the world will get. Our lifeline through it all, our gift within the grief, is the grace of God. May we perceive it, praise God for it, and pass it along to others who so desperately need it, too.
June 30 Prayer
Heavenly Father, your goodness and grace abound, and for that, we are so thankful. While the world grows increasingly unstable, we stand firm on our unshakeable foundation of faith in Christ. We know He is coming soon, and we eagerly anticipate seeing Him face to face. Please pour out your grace on us as we seek to live for your glory and lead others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord. It’s in His mighty and matchless name that we pray. Amen.
