Prayer Reflections for May 16
Are you ever tempted to doubt God’s goodness? Or maybe you know that He is good, but you doubt that the circumstances you find yourself in are good?
That’s where I found myself recently. My grandmother had just died from cancer, our car broke down, and I was stranded far away from home. I knew God was good, but I couldn’t see the good in my current situation.
While I normally cling to Jesus when things go wrong, this seemed like more than I could handle.
That’s where today’s Bible verse comes in.
We can know that God is good and does good. But we can also ask Him to teach us more. To guide our hearts when things go wrong and seem so bad.
“Teach me your statutes.” The Psalmist wrote.
We can trust that God’s goodness will be our guide and look to His Word as a source of strength.
That’s what I needed to do: trust what I already knew and dig into God’s Word to learn more. When we shift our focus from our bad situation to God and His Word, it puts things into perspective.
I don’t know where May 16th finds you this year, but I know that no matter what your circumstances are, God is good and does good. He can lead you through wherever life finds you today. Just look to Him with a trusting heart and a teachable spirit.
May 16th Prayer
Father God, You are good and You do good. Help me to believe that with my whole heart no matter where life finds me. Give me a teachable spirit, not one that is hard and unyielding. Mold my heart to Your will and let it overflow with praise for Your everlasting goodness. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
