Waiting is so hard! I have had many waiting seasons and I will share with you the most important lesson on what to do while you wait on God to work in your circumstances.

The most important lesson I have learned while waiting on God is to pray my way through the ‘waiting time’.

Prayer is the key to getting through the long, seemingly endless waiting period.

Prayer is extremely powerful when you pray scripture.

When you pray scripture, it strengthens your faith and heart. You are also praying God’s words back to Him, which means that you know that you are praying God’s will for your life!

To encourage you while you wait, I have 10 scriptures for you to pray. These scriptures have been taken from a Scripture writing plan called, Waiting On God – 31 Days Of Bible Verses.

10 Scriptures To Pray While Waiting On God

Use these Bible verses to personalize your own prayer, during your devotional time while waiting on God.

1. Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

During your waiting season you need to have hope and remember that God has a specific plan for you and that His plan is for your good and His glory.

This verse was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah to the Israelites who had just been taken captive. There was chaos around them and this prophetic word brought hope to guide them through their captive years.

When chaos and uncertainty surround you, pray this verse and remember that God has a plan for you and your life.

2. Psalm 40:1

“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,and He turned to me and heard my cry.” (Psalm 40:1)

Ask God to help you wait patiently for Him to help you like David did.

Look what happened to David when he did that – the Lord turned to him and heard his cry. God lifted him out of the pit and set his feet onto solid ground. God also gave him a song to sing!! (Psalm 40:1-3).

3. Romans 8:25-27

“But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” Romans 8:25-27

We have a great prayer guide to help us pray through our waiting season – the Holy Spirit!

Do you ever feel so distressed that you don’t know what or how to pray? When circumstances or pain leave you without words to pray, remember that you have the Holy Spirit inside of you. He is your advocate.

This means that when you earnestly want to pray but you can’t formulate what is on your heart, the Holy Spirit can be your advocate. He knows your heart and the situation that you are in.

4. Romans 8:28

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Did you notice those two little words, all things?

God works all things – the good and bad to make something great happen in your life.

All things that seem good, all things that seem unimportant and all things that seem bad are working, under God for your good. Pray these verses with a heart full of thanksgiving, thanking God that He is working out all things for your good.

5. Isaiah 30:18

“So the Lord must wait for you to come to Him, so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.” (Isaiah 30:18)

God wants to earnestly have a relationship with you. He waits expectantly, looking and longing, to be gracious to you.

Don’t you just love that God is actively looking for someone to be good to? The truth is, He waits and expects, and longs to be gracious to you!

The secret to obtaining such blessing is for you to be expectantly waiting for God’s goodness to be poured out on you.

So today, work on that faith muscle and trust God with your problems and circumstances. Pray this verse thanking God for His love for you and ask for forgiveness for letting the busyness of the day or the stress of your situation keep you from your devotional time with Him.

6. Lamentations 3:25

The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him. (Lamentations 3:25)

When your day is difficult, remember this verse. Pray this verse asking God to fill you with a hunger to know Him more and to give you more strength to trust Him and to fill you with expectation that you will see God’s goodness in your life.

7. Exodus 14:14

“The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” (Exodus 14:14)

This is a wonderful verse to pray! Ask God to help you stay calm and to increase your faith, that you can be still and rest in Him.

8. Luke 1:45

“You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.” (Luke 1:45)

This verse will deepen your faith. Pray it with a thankful heart and ask God to give you a deeper revelation and understanding that you are truly blessed because you believe God’s words and that you trust Him to do what He says He will do.

9. Philippians 1:6

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6)

Did you know that you and I are a work in progress? God has started a good work in you – but He’s not finished yet! Pray this verse, thanking God that He is fashioning you into His masterpiece and that He is right there with you, throughout eternity working with you even in your waiting seasons.

10. 1 Corinthians 15:58

“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Pray this verse asking God to help you keep on going and to continue doing the work that is before you. Ask Him for the confidence to do the work well as you wait for the change in your circumstances.

I hope that this list of 10 Bible verses will encourage and strengthen you while you are waiting on God.
