Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.  (Hebrews 4:16)

Prayer Reflections for June 27

In a bustling city, I found myself at a crossroads in my career. I had recently left everything behind to pursue my dream job, a position that seemed like the perfect fit for my skills and aspirations at the very company God promised me that I would one day work at in my early teens. However, little did I know that this journey would take an unexpected turn.

As I settled into my new role, I discovered that my boss was involved in unethical practices, breaking the very laws I had dedicated my life to upholding. Shocked and disheartened, I was torn between my dream job and my principles. How could I continue working in a position that compromised my values? I had no idea what to do next. . . Should I leave. . . Confront my boss . . . Turn a blind eye.

Feeling helpless and uncertain of my next steps, I sought solace and guidance in God’s Word.  Specifically, the story of Esther. Like me, Esther faced a similar dilemma. Taken from her home and made queen of Persia, she discovered that her husband, the king, was being manipulated by an advisor named Haman, who sought to annihilate her people, the Jews.

Esther stood at a crossroads, just like me. She had a decision to make that could cost her everything—speaking up to the king, risking her life, and potentially saving her people. Esther understood the gravity of her situation, the danger that loomed over her, but she also recognized the power of God’s grace and the importance of standing up for justice.

Inspired by Esther’s courage and conviction, I made the difficult choice to confront my boss about the illegal activities. I knew the potential consequences of my actions—losing my job, facing backlash, and even legal repercussions. But I trusted that God’s grace would guide my steps and protect me.

In Hebrews 4:16, we are encouraged to approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, even in the face of adversity. I, like Esther, exemplified this truth by relying on God’s grace and seeking His wisdom in my challenging circumstances. I prayed fervently, asking for the strength and guidance to navigate the difficult path before me.

As I approached God’s throne of grace with confidence, I discovered His unfailing love and provision. Not only was I able to talk to my boss (apparently, he thought the laws  did not apply to the company because it was a nonprofit), but together we worked to develop a plan to bring the company into compliance. Additionally, doors began to open, revealing new opportunities that aligned with a bigger calling God had for me: to start www.therapyforchristians.com in order to increase mental health awareness in the Christian community.

Dear reader, perhaps you find yourself in a similar situation today—faced with a moral dilemma, torn between your dreams and your values. Know that God’s grace is not absent in the midst of uncertainty. Approach His throne with confidence, trusting that He will provide wisdom, strength, and a way forward.

Like Esther and me, let us embrace the courage to stand for righteousness, even when it requires sacrifice. Let us trust that God’s grace is sufficient to sustain us through every challenge, and His wisdom is available to guide our decisions.

June 27 Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come before Your throne of grace, seeking Your wisdom and guidance in the face of challenging circumstances. Help me to trust in Your unfailing love and provision, even when I’m unsure of the path before me. Grant me the courage to stand for justice and righteousness, knowing that Your grace will sustain me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
