Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10)
Prayer Reflections for June 29
The door opened slightly; when I was sighted they left their place and rushed towards me. They swarm around like bees each child with cheerful screams. The glow on their faces made my heart flutter. Every class had an effect on me.
As I went from one to another knew God had his purpose weaved delicately into the lives of the little ones. I pray through these moments. I whisper under my breath a prayer that the children are molded in grace as the team serves. It is the reason we show up early. God has an assignment and we have the honor to show up and serve His own.
From remission bed to the field of grace full of young hearts to serve God’s own, I never take it for granted being a teacher. The light of God in our lives is like a candlelight to light up other candles. Whether you are a mom or a sister in a waiting room or a grandma you surely are a candlelight. Where you are faithfully serving and lighting up other candles is your mission field.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms 1 Peter 4:10 NIV
This scripture tugs my heart. And there are a number of nuggets our soul needs to hear.
Service in any capacity ought to be done with faithfulness. Showing up could be hard. God gives us grace within which we can operate successfully. What do we do when we get tired? How do we press on in service when disappointment presses us to a corner? God knows the world is full of pain and bitterness. He knows we are human and all these feelings may come in various situations. I love the encouragement in Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:9 NJKV
Ministering is a calling and God expects us to share our gifts without grudges. We are stewards of His grace. We are given these gifts and are expected to put these to good use. Recall the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30).
We have received all through the abundance of God’s grace. This should keep our hearts humble. We are because God has made us and not we ourselves. Psalm 100:3
There are blessings in faithfulness Luke 12:42. All we need to do is follow in obedience as God takes us through the path He has prepared for us.
To the mom or wife or sister who thinks her gift is not worth much, you showing up with the little in your hand matters to God more than you think. Your lovingly serving has a huge impact in God’s kingdom. You may not see it just right away.
Your mission field doesn’t have to look grand. You’ve got the candlelight burning in you. You are lighting up candles one at a time every time you wash the feet of the saints through service. That is enough.
