If you are looking for let go and let God prayers, know that these prayers you are about to read are straight from the heart of a hot mess of a Christian. If you’re looking for perfection, you’re in the wrong place.
How’s that to start a blog post? 🙂
Honestly though- I created Pray With Confidence not because I knew how to pray confidently off the bat. I created Pray With Confidence because I was a scatterbrained mess who was diagnosed with ADHD in my adult life, and I had to figure out how to create focused prayer on my own.
Because the thing is, for some, letting go and letting God is HARD. And then for others of us, we are tackling how to even focus on prayer, and then trying to do that and let go and let God at the same time. It’s rough.
But you are not alone.
It took me years to learn how to actually give things to God- and keep them with God. I studied God’s Word, dug in, and had to practice constantly.
I ended up creating an easy 10-step biblical process of how to let go and let God in a tangible way, and put it into a workbook so no one ever has to go through what I went through.

Let Go and Let God Prayers
For each “let go and let God prayer” we have created a Pinterest image to go with it. Feel free to save it to Pinterest so you can refer back to it whenever you need.
Quick note: Here at Pray With Confidence, we try as often as we can to turn Bible verses into prayer. How amazing is it to pray God’s Word. We know we can never go wrong when we pray in agreement with Scripture.
So below we will write the Bible verse first, and then write the prayer after. Italics are for emphasis. Unless otherwise stated, all Bible verses are from the New International Version translation. To find your preferred translation, I highly recommend Bible Gateway.
(#1) A Proverbs 16:9 Prayer
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. (Proverbs 16:9)
Almighty God, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit, I know that letting go does not mean I just sit back and do nothing. It means I place everything in God’s hands and trust and follow God’s plan. Help my heart constantly become more like yours so anytime I plan I am following You. Amen.
(#2) A Proverbs 3:5-6 Prayer
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Dear Heavenly Father, Trusting you starts in my prayer life. If I surrender in prayer, my footsteps will follow. Open my eyes so that I can trust You not just a bit, but with my entire heart. Remove my own human understanding, Lord Jesus, and replace it with Your knowledge and power. Keep my path straight and my eyes on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
(#3) A Psalm 119:15 Prayer
I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. (Psalm 119:15)
Dear Lord, I pray this short prayer today. Help me to meditate on your precepts and consider Your ways. Amen.
(#4) An Isaiah 26:3 Prayer
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (Isaiah 26:3)
Dear God, The best thing is when I can trust in You. Following Your Lead creates perfect peace. Help me to let go of worry, but replace it with your steadfast love. In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen.
(#5) An Acts 20:24 Prayer
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” (Acts 20:24)
Lord God, Through thick and thin, through good days and bad days, You are always there, guiding my ways. I need to let You be in control more. Not just for my sake, but that my only aim should be to finish this race with the task You Lord have given me, the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Help me to live this out by giving You not more control, but all control over my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Bonus! Biblical Affirmations to Help Let Go and Let God
In addition to the powerful prayers above, try these Biblical affirmations to help us loosen the control of our lives (or the control we think we have) as a first step to giving it to God. These are great to refer back to in difficult times or to give to a friend going through a similar situation.
- Every time I take a deep breath in, it is a reminder that we were merely dust but You created us for so much more. You did not create us to worry, but to live through Your will and Your way.
- I am a child of God. He will never leave me or forsake me.
- God’s Word and God’s goodness are enough to get me through this tough time.
- In times of trouble, I can rely on Your mighty arm that has provided every single day. You have never left me, so You won’t leave me now.
- The grace of God is stronger than any illusion of control I believe I have over areas of my life.
- The beautiful truth is this: God’s mercies are new every day but God’s promises last forever.
- God’s guidance is always stronger than human guidance.
- God’s love is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
- Past hurts heal faster when I let go of anger. It gives God more space to work in me when I empty out anger.
- We can’t ask for God to take control of our lives, and then try to do it in our own way. We must give 100% of ourselves to Him.
Christian Music to Help You Let Go and Let God
Whenever I feel like that maybe I’m trying to have too much control of my life, I love trying to give it all back to God through worship. A great song when you are trying to give it all to God is “Lay it All Down” by United Pursuit (featured Will Reagan). Fint it below!
