Here are powerful prayers for expectant mothers

Pregnancy can be a joyful time or a time of worries. As a pregnant mother, prayer is a powerful tool to express thanks, seek guidance, and ask the Lord to protect your unborn child.

Every moment during pregnancy brings feelings of awe and wonderment, yet it also brings uncertainty.

As an expectant mother, it’s normal to feel a wide range of emotions throughout pregnancy.

Whether this is your first pregnancy or one in a series of pregnancies, remembering that you’re not alone can be calming and reassuring. Prayer is an activity that reminds you about the love and support of those around you and also about your Heavenly Father, who cares deeply for you and your unborn baby.

Listed below are several prayers for expectant mothers. Feel free to use these prayers as written or as a springboard for your prayers for pregnant moms.

A Great Prayer for Expectant Mothers

“Almighty God, I praise and thank you for blessing me with this precious little life inside of me. As a newly pregnant mom, I confess I have times when my concerns overtake my thoughts.

I’m anxious about what I will mess up! But when I focus my thoughts on you O Lord, I feel great joy, and your perfect peace covers my worries. So I ask you to keep your loving hands on me over these next few months.

I ask you to lead me to the perfect Scripture verses to give me peace of mind when I need it. Lord, please show me how to be an instrument of your love as I embark on this road of parenting.

Finally, I pray that you guide me to be the loving mother I feel called to become.

I ask all of these things in Jesus’s name. Amen.”

While prenatal care and pregnancy self-care are essential for a healthy pregnancy, spiritual support can provide reassurance and emotional comfort during this changing and sometimes anxiety-producing time. Written below is a prayer for a healthy pregnancy.

“Dear God, you are the ultimate creator of life. You’re the only one knowledgeable of the right time for all things. Your Word tells me that you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

So, as I marvel at the wonder of new life within me now, I praise your name for the miracles that are taking place within me. I thank you for this beautiful gift.

Lord God, I entrust the health of the baby to you. I confidently ask you for a healthy pregnancy and pray I am also blessed with good health throughout these next few months.

I ask these things in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.”

Praying for a pregnant friend is a loving way to provide support during this extraordinary time. When you pray the prayer written below, you can substitute your friend’s name where ‘my friend’ is written to make it more personalized and meaningful.

“Lord, God, today I lift my dear friend who is expecting her precious child. Please bless my friend’s health and wellness during the entire pregnancy.

I pray that you comfort her when she has anxiety, morning sickness, or other pregnancy discomforts. I ask you to grant her peace of mind, a calm heart, and complete reassurance to know you’re with her every step.

Thank you for the miracle of this new little person and the gift of our friendship. May we always be there – supporting and encouraging one another through the joys and trials in our lives.

Father God, I ask all of these things through your divine son. Amen.”

What are Good Psalms for Pregnant Women?

The scripture verses in Psalms were my favorite Bible verses as an expectant mom. Here are a few psalms to read and pray for a pregnant woman.

Psalm 139:13-15 – You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. (NLT).

•Psalm 46: 1-3 – God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. 2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. 3 Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! (NLT).

•Psalm 55:22 – Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. (NLT).

•Psalm 121: 1-3 – I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? 2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! 3 He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. (NLT).

•Psalm 18:2 – The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. (NLT).
