Fall (or autumn) is a beautiful time of year, and today I would like to share some prayers for fall. As the dying summer leaves us, let us reflect and connect with Creator God.
For some, it is their favorite time of year, and for others, autumn can sometimes seem like the least exciting season, but there is much beauty to be seen in nature.
From the last signs of summer to the golden days, to the brilliant colors of the leaves, to the harvest moon nights casting autumn glow with its moonlight rays, to the steam of our breath reminding us of the breath of life on misty mornings, to the heavenly rays of sunlight casting lacy shadows across the earth.
I find each season enjoyable for their own reasons, autumn used to be my least favorite season. But as I have grown, I appreciate the beauty brought by the Creator’s hand, and the slowing down in nature into its own patterns as the good earth rests.
Beautiful and Peaceful Prayers for Fall
Prayer for the First Day of Autumn
Dear Lord,
Thank you for this new season of life. Fall can seem less exciting than the other seasons you have made, but it is a wonderful time of year.
We say our last farewells to summer in the bittersweet glows of morning mists on a golden autumn day.
God of flowers, You paint the trees with colors. Purple, Orange, yellow, and red leaves. What a beautiful color palette you have made.
O God of creation, you guide the animals on their paths to their winter homes, you guide those preparing for hibernation. Just as you have helped them prepare for the coming of autumn through the summer.
You provide the harvest in these autumn months. Thank you for providing our daily bread, Lord.
We ask that you continue to guide us through the changing of the seasons.
We thank you for all that you have done, and all that you will do, Lord.
In Jesus’ precious name I pray, amen.
Prayer for Fall Blessing
Dear Lord,
I pray that you would bless this season. Make it all that you would have it be. I pray that the enemy’s plans would not prosper. That you would use this season for deep growth.
Help us discern the plan you have for us in this season. In our minds, we have our plans, but you decide the steps that we ultimately take.
Let the earlier setting of the sun bring peaceful sleep as the silver moon makes its silent journey in the autumn chill.
In the Holy name of Jesus, I pray, Amen
Prayer For Fall
Heavenly Father,
I pray that as the summer fades and the shortening of days begins in this autumn season, please be with the prayer requests that are on my heart and mind.
As the God of creation, you know the details of all of the situations, even if I do not.
You have ordained a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Help us appreciate this season that you have designed.
As the fading of the summer sun says goodbye and in the morning chill frost’s first kiss touches barren fields let us draw close to you in our quiet time.
As the chill of autumn comes, please be with those who could use the blessing of a blanket, and help me be thankful for that blessing. Please bring us each to a place of comfort in You, O Lord.
In Jesus’ Holy name I pray, amen.
Prayer for the Little Things
God of life,
Thank you for the joys unique to this season. The promise of cider, the smell of pumpkin bread baking, the painting of summer’s leaves into the vibrant autumn colors, the fellowship opportunities, moments of surrender to the joy of leaf-pile jumping in golden leaves, or dancing in falling leaves.
Thank you for the little things. Help us to look out for these glimmers in our days.
Help us focus on the good and lovely. Giving thanks often through our days as you bless us.
In the holy name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Prayer For Fall Harvest
Dear God,
I want to lift up the farmers of the world today. I pray that you would be with them as they bring in the harvest they planted in the spring.
It takes long hours of hard labor to harvest the fields. I pray that you would keep them safe and make their crops plentiful. Bless the farm workers in a special way today Lord.
Give the farmers wisdom as they prepare the fields this winter and spring for next year’s bounty. Give them wisdom as they plan what to plant and where.
We know that You are God of the Harvest, and You are our provider, using farmers to bring forth fruit from the earth. Thank you for your provision.
In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

Prayer for Changing Seasons
O, God of the seasons, God of Autumn,
Thank you for the seasons that you have ordained. As the seasons change, help us remember that our lives also go through seasons.
The freshness of spring fades into the Summer. Summer days shorten into the early days of the fall season. Autumn slips into the wonder of another winter. Winter melts into the new spring and so the cycle continues as the new year’s foliage begins to grow.
Teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom. As the calendar of my life turns and a new season begins, I pray that you would teach me to make the most of the opportunities and the gifts of growth in this season of my life.
Help me remember through my life that you have ordained the change of seasons, both in nature and in the patterns of our own growth. I know that these are not just empty seasons, but that you are using it to grow and stretch me. Help me trust you in the transformation process.
Thank you for your great promise of loving care and grace today despite my own failings.
In the precious name of your son, Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen
.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Lord of all creation,
You are worthy of all praise, just for who you are, yet you have blessed us abundantly. Your power-filled presence covers the earth.
You orchestrate even the smallest details in nature. You created stars bigger than our sun, and the smallest particles on our small earth. Thank you for all that you have done.
You have designed us so wonderfully. You made each one of us for a unique purpose, and made plans for our lives. Thank you for loving us.
You are the eternal one, who was, who is, and who is to come. You are not bound by our finite time.
Most of all Lord, thank you for sending Your Son that we may be forgiven and spend eternity with you when this life is over.
In Jesus’ blessed name I pray, Amen.
Fall Prayer for The Lonely
El Roi, God who sees us,
This time of year is filled with many holidays and gatherings, but there are those who do not have loved ones to gather with.
I lift those sweet souls up to you now. I pray that you would comfort and strengthen them. That You would send people along to bring them into fellowship so that they would not be lonely.
Put it on our hearts and minds to look out for people to draw in. To include and minister to. Open our eyes to those opportunities that you give us and give us the words to say in those moments.
Lord, I know that it is not just physical loneliness that can taint this season, but also feeling alone in a crowd because no one seems to understand or see us. I pray that you help us open up to those around us and that you would give understanding and compassion to them. Let people feel truly seen and heard in my presence.
I ask these things in the wonderful name of Jesus, Amen.
Fall Prayer for Teachers
Dear Lord,
I want to lift up teachers, Lord.
There is so much going on in schools. I pray that they would be a place of learning the things that are important and that political agenda would be set aside.
Be with our teachers. Guide them in their lesson planning. Give them peace. Protect them and keep them safe.
For teachers who know and love you, I pray that your love will shine through them.
For those who do not know you, I pray that they will come to know you in a real and powerful way.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Father God,
I want to lift up the students of the world. Please keep them safe.
Be with those who have hard home lives in a special way.
I pray that they will be spurred on to be life-long learners. That their curiosity would grow and be an asset to them.
I pray that you would be with those who are lonely, please send them friends. Help our students look to include those who are alone.
For those who are bullied, I pray that you would comfort and protect them. Send someone to stand up for them and bring their behavior to the attention of the leaders at school.
Protect our students, Lord. From those who would harm them in any way. Guard their minds and give them wisdom.
In The Holy Name of Your Son, Jesus, we pray, Amen.
Conclusion
I hope that these autumn prayers have helped you in your walk with Creator God in a fresh way. That you might look at this new season as a new beginning and a time to slow down. That you would prune back the unnecessary things that are hindering growth and your walk with the Lord.
