Bible verse for February 16
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day, he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. (Genesis 2:2-3)
Prayer Reflections for February 16
He rested. He blessed the rest. Then he made the rest holy. He made it holy because He rested from all the work of creating that He had done.
From the beginning, our God was a creative God. His first acts in this world were creativity. But after six glorious days of creativity, He rested.
How often do we have creative moments that come from God, but then we move on to the next thing without resting? Yes, I know this verse is about the Sabbath day, and where it originated from, but it is important to read the original Sabbath with the intention behind it.
1. Why do you think it was so important for God to rest after creating?
2. How can you better rest after doing God’s work?
February 16 Prayer
Dear God, You are a God of creativity. You had more creativity in six days than all of us put together will have in our lifetime. Help us to appreciate your creative work. Guide us in following your creativity, but also resting after and appreciating everything you have provided. Amen.
