Bible verse for February 3
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” (Mark 6:31)
Prayer Reflection & Questions for February 3
In this passage, Jesus is encouraging the disciples to rest after they were sent out to spread the good news and perform miracles in Jesus’ name. My favorite part about this is that Jesus says “get some rest.” He does not quantify the amount of rest. He doesn’t say “Let’s rest for 20 minutes then go back out.” Instead, they rested until they were needed again. Jesus welcomed interruptions, but He also made sure to rest in between them.
1. What were the biggest “interruptions” you faced yesterday? How can you welcome those types of interruptions with grace, and make sure you get room to breathe after?
2. Besides the Sabbath, Jesus does not instruct how much rest to take but does stress the importance of it. What type of rest do you need to add to your life in order to be able to pause and welcome interruptions to be able to show Jesus’ love?
February 3 Prayer
Dear Lord, may we carry out Jesus’ missions here on earth, but also take the time to rest as He did. May we see rest as a way to give us godly strength and wisdom to do kingdom work here on Earth, Amen.
