Bible verse for February 4

Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. (Luke 2:14 NIV)

Prayer Reflection & Questions for February 4

I don’t know about you, but I cannot even fathom how I would respond if I saw an angel in the sky. I don’t think I would survive; I would most likely pass out from the pure shock. Well, these shepherds in Luke 2 were presented with one angel at first, but then the sky filled with angels, praising God “in the highest.” There is nothing higher than God, and for that, we give Him glory.

Yet, God decided to send down peace. Peace came as a baby, wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger. That peace was brought down from the highest glory and came to earth. And it is available for us who have hope in Jesus.

1. How can you rest, knowing that God is peace?

2. Peace does not mean a lack of trials or tribulations. Instead, it is peace within the chaos of the earth. In the story of the Gospels, Jesus’ life doesn’t begin peacefully. Not only was he born in a loud and smelly stable, but his family had to flee because King Herod wanted to kill all young boys in an attempt to kill Jesus. Jesus didn’t bring peaceful circumstances, He was and is the peace, in any circumstance. How can Jesus be the peace in your life when chaos is surrounding you?

February 4 Prayer

Dear Almighty God, Thank you for bringing Jesus to earth to be peace. May we radiate the peace of God with our decisions, our lifestyle, and our love. Amen.
