Reflection For Our January 23 Prayer
I have to admit, I was one of those kids that read this verse growing up and thought God would make me rich. I thought that God would make me wealthy, no matter which type of career I chose, simply because I was walking with God. That hit me hard in the face during my first year of real employment.
Yes, God has always provided, but I don’t think I’ve ever thought of myself as wealthy.
Do you know why that is though? Because I am viewing my life through my personal lens. The fact is, many people would look at my life, my penny-pinching ways, and see me as not having a lot of money at all. But then, people living in other parts of the world would see my life and think of me as incredibly wealthy. The truth is, my material wealth is completely based on human perceptions.
But blessings from God? They are as evident as we allow them to be.
Blessings from God aren’t attached to sorrow. Material wealth can be. The richer we get, the more that we feel we need or want. Some sorrow comes with it, because we are always chasing more. Blessings from God are the opposite. God gives us everything we need; there is no more chasing for “more” because God is everything.

- How can you pray today in a way that helps you focus on Heavenly blessings versus earthly blessings?

Dear God, thank you for all the blessings you have provided me in my life. Help them to become more evident to me daily. Help me live a life that is continually sharing the blessings you provide to me. Amen.
