Bible verse for January 30 Prayer

“And I will make them and the places all around my hill a blessing, and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing.” (Ezekiel 34:26)

Reflection for your January 30 Prayer

I hate the rain. The dreary weather makes me depressed and cold. But one time, on a terribly rainy day, my pastor at the time said a shower blessing and thanked God for the rain and the many blessings it pours down. I told him after that it was hard for me to see rain as such a blessing.

I was 16 and didn’t know I had seasonal affective disorder, which made me more susceptible to dreary, miserably January weather. But my pastor let out a large laugh. He was from Madagascar, and for him, the rain was one of the biggest blessings God could give. They would sing praises of shower blessings.

God promises in His word to send down showers of blessings. But will we see these showers as blessings? Or will our own perceptions cause us to not see all the blessings God has given us?

January 30 Prayer Questions

  1. What parts of your life have the ability to stop you from seeing the blessings God has given you? Write them down.
  2. Now that you have identified them, pray to God about each of them, and ask God to use those to remind you of the blessings that God has given you.

January 30 Prayer

Dear God, I am my own unique person made up of both personality and life experiences. Please remove any blinders from my life that prevent me from seeing your goodness and the multiple blessings you provide daily. Amen.
