Bible verse for March 16
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:5)
Prayer Reflections for March 16
About a week ago, my daughter got a toy for her birthday that she had been asking about for quite some time. Every day she asked if she was getting it. I wish I could describe the joy on her face when she opened the present and saw the toy she wanted. Pure joy.
But now that it’s a week later? She has barely looked at it.
Her attitude toward the toy when it was brand new versus now has changed drastically. The toy lost its newness to it, and it doesn’t catch her attention like it used to. The same joy isn’t there anymore. She loves the toy, it’s just different.
I wish I could say that it’s a 5-year-old thing, but I think we can all agree that we are all a bit guilty of this. Whether it is an item in our house, a relationship with someone, or maybe even our relationship with God. We don’t have the same excitement that we did when things were brand new.
But then God steps in and makes us a promise.
In Revelation 21:5 He tells John that He is going to make everything new. Nothing will be old anymore. Our love for God, our trust for Him, and everything else, will be in a perpetual constant state of newness. That joy will never fade. How amazing is that!
March 16 Prayer
Dear Lord, Help me see everything in this world as new today. Give me new eyes to see everything like you do so I can love like you do. Amen.
